An Aviation Win -
Hopefully
24-Mar-06, Windsor Express
Article.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of my job as MP
is when the quality of life of residents is improved.
This has been an enjoyable week.
For years many residents have lived in the shadow of
Heathrow and witnessed a tremendous increase in daytime
flights.
The Civil Aviation Bill has been making its way through
Parliament for some time and I was delighted when the Lords
introduced amendments to stop any increase to the current
limit on numbers and aircraft movements.
The Government has now also made a commitment to support
the flights limit! It is now my job to keep up the pressure
so that they stick to this commitment so I will continue to
work alongside my colleagues in Parliament, local campaign
groups and HACAN to this end.
And there's more good news this week. Following pressure
from myself, HACAN and the RBWM, the Department for
Transport has postponed the work to introduce Mixed Mode
operations at Heathrow. This is great news because Mixed
Mode was seen as the next step towards more flights and
greater disturbance for residents.
All in all, this has been a good week for Windsor and all
residents affected by noisy aircraft. |

I
believe...
People are happier when making their own decisions.
Business is the engine of the economy that generates our
jobs, incomes and taxes.
Government should not interfere in our lives beyond
protecting and defending us.
