There is a turning point for every Government.

In the last week, we have seen foreign offenders set free to offend again by a Home Secretary who had already been warned that this could happen; a deputy Prime Minister accused of entertaining his mistresses at tax payers’ expense, whilst running a dysfunctional department; and a Health Secretary, who thinks it's the best year ever for the NHS, receiving a hostile response from nurses who know the truth of the situation.

All in all it has been a bad week for Government and rightly so because it is the basic duty of our Government to protect us from danger on our streets.

So on the doorsteps it is understandable that there is anger and disappointment at a Government who have let residents down badly on so many fronts.

I am unaware of the results of the local elections at the time of writing. I am aware - from the response on the doorsteps - that the story is likely to be about just how far Labour support has fallen.
