I like Liberal Voters
20-Apr-04, Windsor Observer.
"As part of my drive to hear the view
of all residents, I’ve been on the doorsteps in Windsor Town
and North Ascot.
When meeting former Liberal voters, I take time to
discover why.
Liberal voters are good people. They are concerned about
healthcare, their children’s education, the local
environment and other people. They want honest politicians
with realistic policies.
What strikes me is how much we agree!
But the Liberal Party is offensive. They pretend to care,
but manipulate voter emotion with cunningly worded
literature and personal attacks on candidates.
I am angry that Liberal politicians hurt us with their
waste, inactivity and broken promises once elected. Witness
the Liberal 8.9% council tax rise, after talk of 1.5% and a
rise in parking charges, after talk of parking solutions.
Historic party allegiances dissolving and former Liberal
voters are moving on; feeling ‘used’ and let-down by the
local Liberal party.
Despite a poor image in the past, I’m delighted people
are recognising Conservatives have sensible and caring
policies.
I loathe the Liberal Party cynically using people’s good
nature for their own political gain.
But I like Liberal voters. So I’ll work hard to reveal
the Conservative Party I know – the caring party."
