Impatient for Patients
03-Aug-04, Windsor Observer.
"Many people are sick to death of
waiting NHS improvements - literally.
Grit your teeth as this will be a rant of the rational
kind.
Waiting for NHS improvements under this Government is
life-threatening, unlike waiting for a bus.
Putting aside emotion, let’s look at the record after
7-years of Labour:
• 1 million people on waiting lists
• 5,000 die from MRSA infections given to them by the NHS
• Three times more bureaucrats were hired than doctors.
Their analysis? There aren’t enough doctors!
• They signed the EU Working Time directive. Junior
doctors cannot work the hours to keep up, even if they want
to
This is a farce worthy of a ‘Carry On’ comedy, if it
weren’t so serious. The NHS is killing the poor, because the
rich can go elsewhere.
I praise the NHS nurses, doctors and consultants I’ve
spoken with; They’re equally frustrated.
The Conservative policy is not perfect, but will deliver
more than the current failure.
If patients can choose where they’re treated –
irrespective of income – then good hospitals will expand and
bad hospitals will either improve or close.
If hospitals in Windsor, and throughout the country, are
freed from the 188 silly bureaucratic targets, then they
will do what works.
I am impatient for patients." |
