Over-Development - Stop the Bulldozers
20-Feb-05, Communication.
I am delighted to live near the Castle in central
Windsor. Wherever you live, I think you'll agree it is a
beautiful constituency with some excellent schools,
hospitals and local services. I want us to enjoy our
environment for many years to come.
Over the last year I have continued to speak with
hundreds of residents on their doorsteps. It is clear that
people are angry that their environment is being ruined by
insensitive high-density housing developments. More local
flats bring more congestion to our roads, less room for
children in our excellent schools and longer waits at the GP
surgery.
This is not only a local issue. The Labour Government
want hundreds of thousands of high-density homes built
throughout the South-East of England. Yet, there are plenty
of brown field sites nearby on which suitable homes can be
built for first time buyers.
There are about 38,000 dwellings in the Windsor
constituency but the Government want to cram in many many
more. Surprisingly, they are supported by LibDem councillors
at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead who refuse to
adopt a firmer line to protect our local environment.
This is why I am campaigning to protect our beautiful
area from the bulldozer of over-development with
high-density housing and flats. |

People are happier when making their own decisions.
Business is the engine of the economy that generates our
jobs, incomes and taxes.
Government should not interfere in our lives beyond
protecting and defending us.
