Thanks to Voters
06-May-05, Open Letter to
Local Newspapers.
"Dear Editor,
I’d first like to thank you and your staff
for the fair and impartial way you have covered the election
campaign.
My thanks to my election agent and the
members of the Conservative Association for selecting and
supporting me as their candidate over the last 19 months and
the campaign team for their tireless work over many months.
It has meant a lot to me.
And, for the warm welcome on 35,000
doorsteps, I want to say thank you, to the people of Windsor
constituency; many will have had the courage to break with
former party allegiances to deliver such a substantial
result.
With an increased majority of over 10,000
and a 1.2% swing from the LibDems, I am delighted and
energized, but also recognise the onerous responsibility
placed upon me.
I accept this role with humility and honour
and an overwhelming sense of duty to our beautiful area.
There are some matters that are outside of
party politics. You have my commitment that I will do all I
can to take action on the things that matter to all of us.
In the years to come I want all us to feel a
sense of freedom and of pride in being British once again
and I am proud to be able to play a role in the future of
our great nation.
So I thank you, from the bottom of my heart,
for giving me this great honour.
It will be a privilege to serve as your next
member of parliament for the Windsor constituency."

People are happier when making their own decisions.
Business is the engine of the economy that generates our
jobs, incomes and taxes.
Government should not interfere in our lives beyond
protecting and defending us.
