Trouble at Princes Close
24-Aug-04, Windsor Observer.
"Luckily my home in Windsor is on the
fourth floor. I feel safe when I close the door.
Home has traditionally been a place where we feel free
from the threat of crime. ‘An Englishman’s home is his
castle’, but something is amiss in Eton Wick.
After a recent visit, I reported on the anti-social
behaviour and vandalism. I am increasingly concerned because
a few days ago I received a petition from the residents of
Princes Close seeking action to bring the bad behaviour of
local yobs under control.
I have heard of the same intimidation, threats and
yobbish behaviour from people in Datchet, Clewer, Windsor
town, Colnbrook and Poyle.
In Thames Valley recorded crime is up by 19.1%.
Despite tough words and a 45% increase in the payment for
policing through our council tax, this government and the
local Liberals are failing to protect us in our homes.
This Saturday I will be visiting Eton Wick to speak with
local residents and see if there’s a way to help.
It is time for firmer action. Complacency cannot
substitute zero tolerance policing which puts respect and
discipline at the core of a civilised society." |

I
believe...
People are happier when making their own decisions.
Business is the engine of the economy that generates our
jobs, incomes and taxes.
Government should not interfere in our lives beyond
protecting and defending us.
