Windsor – A Gastronomical Delight
06-Jul-04, Windsor Observer.
"Much of my time is spent speaking
with residents, visiting schools and meeting with voluntary
organisation.
Working lunches and suppers also feature highly when
there’s a need to discuss Windsor matters in depth.
To the initial dismay of non-Windsor business and
political colleagues, I now insist they visit me in Windsor
to support our local economy (and save me a few hours each
day!).
The wonderful problem I face is where to eat!
An amble down St Leonards Road, a stroll along Peascod
Street and a meander through the station and across the
bridge to Eton confirms the challenge. The town centre is
awash with bistros, wine bars, cafés and a veritable feast
of restaurants.
Travel further afield and we have the most exquisite and
beautiful country pubs, cottage Inns and Michelin rated
restaurants from Bray, Datchet and Wraysbury to Ascot,
Sunninghill and Sunningdale.
Open the Windsor Observer and observe the sea of
restaurants on offer.
My guests have been charmed and delighted with their
visits to Windsor and are sure to call again.
So my thanks to all those hard-working and committed
restaurateurs and publicans for making Windsor such a
gastronomical delight for tourists and working people alike." |

I
believe...
People are happier when making their own decisions.
Business is the engine of the economy that generates our
jobs, incomes and taxes.
Government should not interfere in our lives beyond
protecting and defending us.
