MP Supports Hythe
End Residents
16-Mar-06, Press Release.
Adam Afriyie MP has received a reply from the
British Aviation Authority regarding the concrete
crushing plant at Hythe End Road. Mr Afriyie had written
to BAA on behalf of local residents who had complained
about the noise, pollution, and traffic problems caused
by the plant.
BAA have confirmed that their long term aim is to move
the crusher, which is used to crush concrete waste from
Heathrow, to an area where it will not impact upon
residents’ quality of life. In the meantime, they are taking
steps to mitigate the effects of the crusher in terms of
road safety, noise and mud on local roads.
Mr Afriyie commented:
“I am delighted that BAA are taking steps to move the
concrete crusher away from residents’ homes.
“It seems absurd that concrete was being moved away from
the Heathrow site to a residential area to undergo a noisy
crushing process.
“I do hope that BAA will step up their efforts in the
short term so that residents will not have to put up with
the dirt, noise and vibration from the plant much longer.”
