MP meets New Members

Local Conservative MP Adam Afriyie attended a reception in Winkfield for the many new members who joined the Conservative Party in the last few weeks. Membership of the Windsor Conservatives has grown by over 10% since the election of David Cameron as the new leader.

Adam Afriyie said: “David Cameron’s energetic and optimistic leadership has struck a chord not just locally in Windsor & Ascot, but throughout the country. People feel that now is the time to join the Conservative Party - as I did over 15 years ago - to do their bit for their country.”

As membership continues to grow, local Conservatives will be holding more functions for new members. Tim Lord, Chairman of Windsor Conservatives said:

“More and more people are joining us every week, and this reception provides us with a chance to meet those that join up and welcome them, it was also a great chance for them to meet Adam Afriyie our MP.”

Across the Country Membership of the Conservative Party has increased by over 16,000 and a recent MORI Poll for the Times showed the Conservatives on 40 points Labour on 38 and Lib Dems on 17.
